We spent Thanksgiving in Idaho at my parents. Thurm's mom is homeless right now, so my parents get us for both holidays. Florecita convinced my mom and I to do Black Friday shopping at 8pm on Thursday. And somehow we convinced Chase, my 16 year old nephew to come with us. We decided to go to Walmart first and get movies and towels. Chase and I decided movies would be more popular so we headed there first at about 5 minutes to. I couldn't see them so finally I asked an employee and they were set up over by the meat department (good thing I asked!). As we were walking away a group of people who had been hovering around a display in the electronics department start ripping and ravaging! It was almost scary sounding! Chase and I realized we were too late for it all. Amateurs. But we had alot of fun.
I wrapped about 20 presents for the boys and put them under the tree so it would be festive. They were mostly movies and puzzles that I got at thrift stores. I knew that Jens would open one or two. And I was planning on having a teaching moment when that happened. So the other day he opened one. We had our talk. The next day he opened another. I asked Thurm to try and explain it to him. I woke up this morning and EVERY present under the tree had been opened. The little bum. I go back and forth between wondering if he REALLY doesn't understand us or if he just is being naughty. I think it might be a bit of both.
Thurm and I have been treating ourselves to Greek Gods Honey yogurt. Its delicious! Its a treat that we don't buy often because its significantly more than the generic brand of regular yogurt. Thurm has been eating it with a baby spoon to ration himself. Haha. Great idea.
I joined the gym last month. I bought a membership off someone, so I got the VIP pass (daycare included) for $22 a month. A STEAL! However, having a nursing baby has made it so hard to actually go. I have to work around her schedule but also have to give them an hour notice for the daycare. This said, I have basically made it about four times a week. So one afternoon one of the employees asks me if I'd like a free personal training session. Yes I would. I show up and they get some information from me: weight, height, goals, reasons for exercising, etc. Then we work out for 15 minutes. I was sore for 4 days after! Then we head back to her office and I get a sales job trying to get me to buy a personal trainer for $40 a 30 minute session. WHAT?! People are really paying that? That is double what I pay for an ENTIRE MONTH for the gym. But they laid it on thick. You have to do this for you health, your kids, the example you are setting for your kids, risk of diabetes, more energy, etc. All good reasons, but seriously, $40 a session is ridiculous.
I got a new computer! Its fun to have a new computer, BUT it was stressful having my old one crash. I had almost finished editing a session and had another shoot scheduled. So for about a month while I figured out what was wrong with my old computer, deciding to get a new one, ordering, waiting, etc. I have had two clients on hold. I hate that. I have never considered myself snobby about being a Mac owner. That's all I've ever owned, but at work I've always used a PC and been fine with it. WELL, in the last month I've had to use our Dell and try to edit on that. LET THE SNOBBERY BEGIN! I got a Mac Mini this time : )
I signed Quinn up for TaVaci, a singing group, that starts in January. I'm so excited. He is a really musical little kid and I think it will be so good for him. Quinn has been asking a million questions about Santa. This is the first year I think he's grasped the concept so there is alot to find out. Quinn is crazy smart. His little brain is amazing. So I feel like he is too smart for Santa. He is already asking questions that alot of 7 year olds just accept. "So how did Santa get flying reindeer? How does he get all the presents in that bag? Why does he have to live in the North Pole? and on and on. Thurm finally told him "that we don't know everything about Santa, sorry." Lies, lies, lies.
Jens has been naughty, destructive, wakes up at 5:30am, and throws hour long tantrums. I attribute some of it him not getting enough sleep and some to the terrible twos. Oh how I hope its just a stage. Still through it all I think he's adorable. Thurm thinks I favor him.
Maren is 3 months old! I can't believe it! She holds her head up really well. She has rolled from tummy to back a few times. Though I can't be sure that it was on purpose. She smiles all the time now and it lights up her whole face. She has really begun cooing and talking in the last two weeks. I love how they try so hard to make sounds. Quinn has gotten her to laugh on two different occasions from being silly. Those babies, they love Quinn. And he loves the babies. Baby laughs have to be the most joyful sound on this earth. I don't think I mentioned that she is a GIANT! She is off the charts tall. She was born big and has kept growing. I hope she levels out. But we might have a basketball player or supermodel on our hands.
